History of the Joseph R. Hanko Scholarship Fund, Inc.

This non-profit organization was created in November of 2000 in memory of Joseph R. Hanko. While working for close to thirty years in the Margate School System, first as a teacher and coach and later as a principal, Mr. Hanko dedicated himself to providing the children of Margate with a quality educational program. It is therefore the goal of our organization to continue Mr. Hanko's legacy by granting scholarships to high school seniors that attended the Margate City School District and will be continuing on to higher education. To date, our organization has granted $56,000 in scholarships to outstanding students. Supported by generous contributions of many individuals and businesses throughout our community, we hope to continue our mission for many years to come. |
