My overall objective of this unit lesson plan is for students to develop an appreciation of reading. Also, I project projected that the students will enhance their related skills in the following areas:

Enjoyment of assigned and independent reading activities

Oral reading fluency

Reading comprehension

Vocabulary usage

Ability to express oneself verbally in class discussions

Ability to express oneself in written exercises
During the course of this unit students will be able to:

Correctly use assigned vocabulary words with 80% accuracy

Correctly respond to comprehension questions with 80% accuracy

Demonstrate an increased awareness of verbql expression as a result of reading on a daily basis

Adequately and actively participate in class discussion relating to the novel
