Power Point ProcedureClick on Text links to navigate Power Point project Overview l Objectives l Materials l Procedure l Assessment l Power Point Index This is the culminating activity for the novel unit. The students will have completed the novel and all of the assignments. If you, as the facilitator, feels that students should be introduced to a Power Point tutorial they should be directed to http://www.actden.com/pp/. Following a review of this tutorial, the students can visit the following websites to view samples of Power Point book reports:
Each sample could be evaluated for design, color, content, graphics, creativity, etc. by both the teacher and the students. I take a back seat during this activity and let the students conduct the critique. They then have the opportunity to brainstorm and use their own suggestions. Also, before they begin the project, I find it has been helpful to review with the students the Power Point guidelines and Power Point Assessment Rubric that will be used to evaluate their work. I also go over the Storyboard Worksheet with the students while creating a sample storyboard. An overhead projector is very helpful during this presentation. I allow one week for the students to prepare their presentation. Upon completion, each student presents his or her Power Point to the class. After each presentation, the class critiques the presentation. I have found this to be helpful and also provide some peer input so the next presentation will be improved upon. Students needing assistance are given the option to work with a partner and I act as a facilitator during all phases of this activity. I have found that the students enjoy assisting each other and sharing their technology expertise.
