I designed this web site as a reference for teachers instructing eighth grade special education students in a Literacy/Language Arts program. I selected the four novels included in this site because they are award winning, of high-interest, and exciting.
The philosophy behind the development of this site is that a child's interest in reading can be piqued, regardless of his or her reading level, by using books of this nature.
Included in each unit are what I feel to be the pertinent teaching materials that will enable you, as educators, to complete each novel unit. Naturally, you will want to incorporate your own ideas and build upon what I have offered you.
