IMPORTANT: We recommend that our clients traveling abroad take a photocopy of their passport. It should be packed separately from your actual passport. We also recommend leaving a copy at home with your emergency contact.              

TIME ZONE – Dublin is on Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) or Universal Time Co-ordinated, as in London, England. Without taking daylight-saving time changes into account, when its 12 noon in Dublin or London, it is 7am in New York. Like the United Kingdom, clocks are advanced by an hour the middle of March and put back an hour at the end of October.

CLIMATE Ireland enjoys a temperate maritime climate, due mainly to its proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the presence of the Gulf Stream. Known as the Emerald Isle, Ireland is so green because it receives a lot of precipitation.

Ireland’s average temperatures are a high of 62 ° F and a low of 48 ° F in October.

Electric – The electric current in Ireland is 230 volts rather than our 110 volts. Do not use hair dryers, travel irons or shavers without an adapter to convert the current.

Currency The currency for the Republic of Ireland is the EURO . Estimated exchange is $1.00 USD = 0.74 EURO. Additional money should be carried in Travelers Checks in $20 denominations. In most cases, the best rate of exchange can be obtained with a Visa or MasterCard.         

LANGUAGE Although English is the main language of Ireland; it's spoken with a mellifluous lilt and a peculiar way of structuring sentences, to be sure.

There remain areas of western and southern Ireland, known as the Gaeltacht, where Irish (Gaelic) is the native language - they include parts of Kerry, Galway, Mayo, Donegal and the Aran Islands. There are around 83,000 native speakers. Since Independence in 1921, the Republic of Ireland has declared itself to be bilingual, and many documents and road signs are printed in both Gaelic and English .

Cell Phones – Check with your cell phone carrier with respect to your coverage overseas. Roaming charges will apply the same as they when visiting other countries. Make sure you have Roaming activated on your phone before you travel if you plan on using your cell phone.

BAGGAGE : Your tour rate allows one normal sized suitcase, plus one piece of hand luggage. DELTA size restrictions for bags are: total dimensions 62 inches (length+height+width) and a maximum weight of 50lbs and the carry-on no larger than 24 x 16 x 10 inches. Along with your carry-on bag you can have a personal bag (purse, camera bag) and cannot exceed overall dimensions of 36 inches. Total weight of both bags cannot exceed 40 pounds.

It is always a good idea to carry a change of clothing, medicines and toiletries with you in your tote bag. Be sure to complete all information with ballpoint pen on the tag and affix to your checked luggage before you leave home. You may strap checked luggage if you feel more comfortable but do not lock luggage since it must be available for security inspection.

Travel Insured International

INSURANCE : Trip cancellation, Accident/Illness, and Baggage Insurances are available. TRIP CANCELLATION insurance is for reimbursement of all cancellation penalties. This coverage applies when certificated illness prevents travel. This protection should be seriously considered by all clients since all cancellations regardless of cause, are subject to penalties.

Clothing – Choosing a wardrobe of basics will help you deal with space limitations. Select clothes that will coordinate around one or two colors. As at home, it is early fall, and you may need light jackets, especially in the evenings.
