I teach all subjects in the third grade curriculum. I enjoy this grade level because I can see by June how the children have developed into students. This is the year where I push the kids to write paragraphs, master the "art" of answering essay questions and to become responsible for truly studying to pass the more complicated tests in Science and Social Studies.

I try to promote an atmosphere of teamwork while espousing the belief of "be all you can be".

I enjoy teaching third grade because this is the year for many, when they become active patrons in the library. The previous years of schooling were spent making them literate and third grade gives them a chance to apply these skills by reading and enjoying chapter books. There is no greater joy to me, than to have a student smile and glow from the pleasure of having read a good book.
