    Renewable Energy online resources
    • Using Google SketchUp to Model Sun On A Home, Collector, ...This small example shows how the Google SketchUp 3D geometry modeling tool can be used to show how the sun and shadows play over an object over the course of a day.   It turns out to be a very good way to visualize what parts of a structure are going to be in sun or in shadow for any part of the day or year.
    • Green Building Design Using Google SketchUp:  design a 3 dimensional “green” home. This lesson introduces students to the software and helps them build a simple structure from which they can add their own “green” additions. This lesson would be appropriate in a unit on energy conservation.
    • Passive Solar Design using Google Sketch-Up
    • Tiny Solar House Plans
    • Build a 3D model of your school.
    • Use SketchUp to visualize the geometry concepts you are learning about.

    • When studying architecture of the past, create a 3D model of an ancient pyramid, building or other historic architecture.

    • Combine Google Earth with SketchUp: Build a model of your house, and geo-locate it in Google Earth.
    • Show architecture, technology, and cultural artifacts with three-dimensional models by combining Sketchup and Google Earth: Create all the buildings in your neighborhood with SketchUp and add them to your Google Earth town. Then use the “Add Content” function in the Places area to add information about the places you’ve created.
